Students will continue to work on their African American Artists Inspired works of art. Students are required to work independently and manage their time to complete this project by Thursday. Friday we will have a group critique.
Monday and Tuesday Students will be researching African American Fine artists. Students will research and choose an artist using the hand out or choosing from a medium of interest. Students will save information about the artist and work of art that inspires them to a Word document.
Wednesday and Thursday students will decide on a subject they would like to use for their African American Inspired work of art. Rough sketches will be drawn showing an influence or inspiration from the artist you have chosen.
Friday students will begin with the media of their choice to create their work of art.
Students will continue to draw their self portraits using the grid method. Friday students will add a creative background to their portraits. Backgrounds can have added color with colored pencil, but must show value. Students will choose 1 area of their portrait to add color with value.
Students will continue to carefully draw out their grids following the step by step instructions in their packet.
Thursday students should be ready to start drawing the first section of their self portrait starting with their heads. They will use their view finders and line them up according to the coordinates on their photo.
Friday students will continue to draw line and shape that they see in each square of their photo.
Students will complete the Universal Beauty Challenge in their sketchbooks.
Friday we will begin creating our grids for our self portraits.
Welcome back! Students will be working on a sketchbook assignment Thursday and Friday using watercolor paints and other materials.
The 8th grade VA Comp students art work will be at the Man and Machines exhibit at the Art Place, 3300 Sandy Plains Rd, Marietta, GA 30066.

All of my students did a fantastic job on this project! Those students who were not on the list either didn't fill out the online application or forgot to update it with their artist statement.
make sure you watch the tutorial and try to follow the steps to create a work of art using a grid. There are written instructions that are easy to follow.
Students will finish uploading assessments and photos to their Weebly sites this week.
Monday through Thursday students will be finishing up their common assessments using the Feldman Method of Art Criticism.
Friday students will finish uploading images of their work to their weebly sites.
Monday we will learn how to critique works of art using the Feldman Method of Art Criticism. We will go through the steps together as a class and critique a work of art.
Tuesday students will begin their Common Assessment. Students will view the Virtual Gallery on this website. They wil choose a work of art that interests them. They will follow the steps of the Feldman Method of Art Criticism to critique the work of art.
Wednesday through Friday students will use the common assessment rubric and complete the assessment using the formats on the rubric. All work must be saved to a flash drive or student ID folder to upload to their weebly sites.
